Membership

All U.S citizens of Ethiopian and Eritrean origin and people related to them by marriage or adoption, legal residents from Ethiopia or Eritrea. 

Membership shall be for residents of the Greater Piedmont Triad area, but not limited to (Guilford, Forsyth, Alamance, Davidson, Randolph, Caswell, Davie, Stokes, Surry, Rockingham, counties) in North Carolina. Members who relocate to other counties or states can retain their membership if they abide by the Bylaws of the Corporation in general and make membership contributions uninterrupted. Members who are relocating to other counties or states shall receive financial assistance and voluntary moral support at the time of death or terminal illness.  

 

All members shall pay monthly donations of $20.00 per month, a total of $240.00 for the whole fiscal year or $120.00 every 6 months. The due date for the annual payment is June 30.  

 

Prospective members can acquire an application form from the General Secretary or any member of the Board of Directors. 

 

Duties & Privileges

No member shall be allowed to be registered more than once. All members are equal. Members in good standing shall have the right to attend and vote at all general and special meetings of members, to nominate and vote for, to be a candidate for the Board of Directors, to be an officer of the Association, to be members of a committee, to propose candidates for membership in the Association. 

 

  • All members or a member of a family shall notify immediately the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, or the Assistant Secretary at the time of death or terminal illness. 

  • All members shall attend annual, special, fund raising and extraordinary meetings. 

  • All members are encouraged to attend memorial services and give moral support and comfort by visiting the residence of the bereaved. 

Resignation & Suspension

Any member may resign from the corporation by submitting a written resignation letter to the Chairman, vice chairman or the Secretary of the Corporation. 

All contributions and other donations are non-refundable at the time of resignation. 

 

  • A member can be suspended from the Corporation for nonpayment of membership contribution for 6 consecutive months after the due date. 

 

  • A member who has been suspended can be reinstated after paying all dues by the decision of the Board of Directors. 

 

  • Acceptable reasons will be evaluated by the Board of Directors in members that are suspended. 

 

  • The right of a member shall cease on the termination or resignation of membership.
